Vera Mae Notah
THOREAU — Funeral services for Vera Mae Notah, 44, will be announced at a later date.
Notah died Sept. 9, 2011, in Albuquerque. She was born Jan. 7. 1967 in Fort Defiance, Ariz.
Cope Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
Laverne Tsosie
CROWNPOINT — Funeral services for Laverne Craig Tsosie, 59, will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meeting house in Crownpoint. Bishop Jim Howell will officiate. Burial will be at the family cemetery in Crownpoint.
Tsosie died Sept. 3, 2011, in California. She was born May 13, 1952 in Crownpoint into the Folding Arms People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.
Tsosie graduated from Crownpoint High School in 1971, from CIT culinary school in 1981 and from Sandia College in 1983. She was a medical biller for 27 years and worked in New Mexico, Las Vegas, N.M., and California. She was a rodeo/bull riding grandma, liked traveling, doing needlepoint, sewing, crocheting, cooking, and any arts and crafts.
Survivors include her husband Alvin Alan Tsosie; sons Craig, Thomas, Lance, and Romney Tsosie; daughters Leona Joe and Alexandrea Tsosie; parents Ruth Devore and John Devore; brothers Benjamin, Carson and Boyd Craig; sisters Georheanna, Ava and Lisa Craig and 18 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Etcitty; father George Craig and brothers Rodger and Jerry Craig.
Pallbearers will be her sons, nephews and grandsons.
The family will receive relatives and friends at a reception that will be announced at the services.
Robert Yazzie
HUNTERS POINT, Ariz. — Services for Robert N. Yazzie, 66, will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michaels, Ariz. Burial will be in St. Michaels Cemetery.
Yazzie died Sept. 8, 2011, in Flagstaff, Ariz. He was born Dec, 12, 1944 in Hunters Point, into the Towering House People Clan born for the Pueblo People Clan.
Yazzie was a silversmith and a member of the NAC and a road man. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren. Yazzie also loved the oldies, his favorite singer was Waylon Jennings and liked to listen to KGAK.
Survivors include his wife Katherine Yazzie; son Albert Yazzie; daughters Katie A. Shorty and Cornelia A. Yazzie; brothers Leo Yazzie Sr. and Edward Yazzie; sisters Mary Tabaha, Isabell Kee and Betty Emerson; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Notah Yazzie; mother Nillie Yazzie; sister Bessie Chetto; brother Koskie Haswood and Justin Yazzie.
Pallbearers will be Leo L Yazzie Jr., Tyrone J. Sam Sr., Lawrence L. Yazzie Sr., Leroy L. Yazzie Sr. Ivan Kee and other family members.
The family will receive relatives and friends in Hunters point. They will meet at 3 p.m. at St. Michael’s Chapter House.
